Welcome to the Ukiah Rod & Gun Club
The Ukiah Rod & Gun Club has been successfully gaining members, knowledge and recognition since 1945. Our main purpose is to help our extended community through restoration of our streams and rivers for fish and wildlife habitat. In order to facilitate this, we have several important ongoing projects. We work closely with both the U.S. Fish and Game and Army Corps of Engineers. Our main facility is the Bill Townsend Fish Hatchery, which was dedicated at Mendocino Dam, north of Ukiah in March 2004.
Program Goals
The Club is a California nonprofit, tax exempt corporation, comprised of local sportsmen who are greatly concerned about the fisheries. The founding purposes are the conservation, protection, preservation, propagation and restor-ation of Fish, Wildlife, Natural Resources, and the education of the public.
The Ukiah Rod and Gun Club, in cooperation with the Department of Fish and Game, plans to assist in the recovery of the Chinook Salmon in the Russian River. The Club maintains a Conservation Fish Hatchery adjacent to the Lake Mendocino Steelhead Egg Collection and Imprint facilities, located at the base of Coyote Valley Dam.
